Objectives

The monitoring of subsurface water within WP4 requires significant, state of the art technological input, with the drilling and installation of monitoring equipment, including the TDR probes. This WP will aim to demonstrate the successful installation and running of the technology, including its ability to accurately monitor sub-surface water flow.

The demonstration activities aim at developing and implementing a routine methodology for the estimation of recharge rates from ephemeral rivers based on economically accessible data. For this purpose the data requirements will be listed and the data gathering process documented within a manual with figures, tables and photographs. This includes the site characterisation, the survey of groundwater data and hydrological data, the sampling and analytical techniques.
